What is Spotting?
"ترقب الطائرات"
Aircraft Spotting is a Global Aviation Enthusiast Hobby. The aim is to gather and update relative information about sighted aircraft, in somewhat of a photo collection to be shared among other enthusiasts. Spotting is a great way to learn about Aviation and the complexity of operations. Some Spotters are specific to what craft they want to collect, others accumulate a large number of aircraft detailing differences.
Spotters are useful in updating the public with Aircraft information, history, and obviously images... Those images of aircraft on Flight Tracker Apps, YUP! Mainly Spotters!!!

Suggested Tools & Equipment
MagnificationBinoculars: Recommended to use 10x -> 15x magnification for Free Hand units. Bigger equipment will be heavier therefore harder to use.
Spotting Scopes: Smaller in size and easier to handle plus with free hand unites bigger magnification is manageable due to size and weight. |
PhotographyRecommended use of Magnification and Tripod for stability. Keep in mind Magnification, Speed, and Stability are major factors in capturing a clear image. With free hand equipment weight is a factor and therefore harder to use.

Mobile AppsFlight tracking apps can enhance your experience by providing Movement Schedules and Aircraft Information. Modern App allow for Live tracking, this function can help in identifying aircraft in a busy area.

Things to Keep in MindAircraft land and depart facing the wind, its a good idea to check the local weather forecast for the day. METARs are the best way to get airport weather information as it is the same information relayed to pilots.
Make sure you have enough water to keep hydrated. A folding chair can be a great asset. |
